ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON
Between Hello and Goodbye
Dear Alumni and Friends,
Many in the Nazareth Academy Grade School community mourned the unexpected loss of Joseph Brancato, of the Class of 1981. Tragically, Joe passed away on March 17, 2009, just weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer. There are no words to describe the pain this has brought to Joe's immediate family, his wife Christine, sister Linda, '86, coworkers and friends. We pray that God and the memories of Joe will comfort those who mourn his loss.
The silver thread that embraced the life of Joseph Brancato can be simply stated... A language of the heart. It is understood that a child must choose to respond to the opportunities within his life. It is a choice, cannot be taught, and generates from the soul. As a young man, he challenged himself by bringing out the best in himself and others. As an adult, Joe cultivated and perfected his virtues and gifts through honoring himself and living in a manner which epitomizes respect, compassion, generosity, patience, purposefulness, thankfulness, friendliness, trust, love and unitiy.
The Class of 1981 would like to honor Joe for the manner he chose to live his life by offering a scholarship to a Nazareth Academy Grade School student personifying and practicing their own... language of the heart while bringing out the best in themselves and others. We have established the Joseph Brancato Memorial Alumni Scholarship, the first scholarship to be awarded at NAGS in Joe's memory.
As an enthusiastic advocate of his grade school alma mater, Joe was always ready to lend a hand. We believe that he would agree that this cooperative effort to help students discover their talents, connect with their faith, pursue their education and inspire the world, is a cause worthy of your support. We ask that you join us by making a donation to the Joseph Brancato Memorial Alumni Scholarship.
To coincide with the first distribution of the Scholarship, we are planning an ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON on SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2010 at school. This is an ambitious plan and we need all NAGS alumni, particularily the members of the Classes of 1981 and 1986, along with Joe's coworkers and friends, to get involved in some capacity. It is our hope that the luncheon event willl perpetually celebrate and recognize the achievements of Joe, our friend and classmate, as well as student scholarship winners and the generosity of donors.
Donations can be made online, by clicking "DONATE NOW" and specifying that the donation is for Tuition Assistance ~ Joseph Brancato Scholarship. Checks can also be made payable and sent to: "NAGS," ATTN: Development Office, 4701 Grant Avenue, Phila., PA 19114. Please mark "Joseph Brancato Scholarship" on your check. For additional information, please contact any one of us listed below. You may also contact Pat McGarvey, Development Director, at 215-637-7777, ext. 206, nagsalumni@aol.com.
